Adam Smith, Founder
Mr. Smith is a seasoned litigator who has represented clients across a wide range of businesses and industries and has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings. Mr. Smith's litigation practice is focused on representing owners, contractors, and subcontractors in construction disputes. In addition to commercial litigation, Adam has experience in practice areas that include contract drafting and negotiation, white collar defense, and regulatory compliance.
Professional Experience
Before founding A. Smith Law in 2024, Mr. Smith was a partner at the law firm of Sites & Harbison in Lexington, Kentucky. He joined Stites' Construction Services Group in 2015 and handled a wide array of construction disputes and complex commercial litigation during his nine years at the firm. Mr. Smith began his law career in New York City, where he worked as an associate with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP (2007-2011) and Dewey Pegno & Kramarsky LLP (2011-2014).
Mr. Smith is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and New York. He is admitted to practice in the U. S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Kentucky, the Western District of Kentucky, the Eastern District of New York, and the Southern District of New York.
EDUCATION
Mr. Smith earned his J.D., cum laude, from Cornell Law School in 2007. While in law school, he was an editor of the Cornell Law Review.
He holds a B.A. in English from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
PERSONAL
Mr. Smith was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He has proudly called Lexington home since 2014. When not working, Mr. Smith enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, working out, and exploring the great outdoors.
